For each project, I create a customised quote that includes a fixed project cost, a projected timeframe and a detailed breakdown of all pricing elements. This way, you’ll have complete clarity on the project’s cost from the outset. Pricing and turnaround times are variable and depend on factors such as the service type required, word count, document format, urgency, target audience, project complexity and my current scheduling availability.

If your priority is finding the cheapest or fastest translation provider, then I’m not the right fit for you. I deliver high-quality translations underpinned by my qualifications and over a decade of experience in the field. My costs and turnaround times are a direct reflection of this. Opting for the lowest rates, the fastest turnaround and a translator who is not a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists or similar will very likely result in an inferior product.

I follow a 10-step process for every project:

  1. Consultation – I will analyse your text(s), factoring in aspects such as subject area, format, urgency and project complexity.
  2. Quotation – I will send you an in-depth quotation along with my terms of business. Your written confirmation, which can be in the form of an email, is required before I can commence the work. Additionally, in some scenarios, I may request a deposit or upfront payment to kickstart the project.
  3. Preparation – I will engage in a thorough read-through of the text(s), closely study any reference materials and begin compiling a glossary of key terms.
  4. Translation – Once the project is confirmed, I will get started. I may reach out to you with questions either before or during this translation stage. This collaborative approach is essential to crafting a final product that aligns perfectly with your intended purpose and target audience.
  5. Proofreading – Once I have produced the translation, I perform an on-screen bilingual proofreading, comparing the original text against the translation to ensure accuracy.
  6. Optional step – For an added layer of certainty, I can coordinate a third-party proofreading of my work.
  7. Final read-through – In this stage, I perform an English-only read-through to eliminate any inconsistencies and give the style a final polish. I assess the text as an independent English piece. My ultimate objective being to ensure it reads with a smooth, native English flow, rather than giving the impression of being a translation.
  8. Delivery – I deliver the final text to you, on time and on budget. If you have any questions or comments, I’m always on hand after delivery. I am committed to creating and maintaining long-term relationships with clients, and your satisfaction is paramount.
  9. Invoicing – Once we’re all done, I’ll send through the invoice.
  10. Payment –Any remaining balance must be settled within the agreed number of days.

I will email you an obligation-free, fixed-price quote for the project, including cost and delivery date. Once you accept the quote, I’ll begin work on your document(s).

Payment terms vary. For one-off projects or new clients, 50% is payable in advance with the balance due 14 days after completion. For established clients, I invoice on completion of the project and offer 30-day terms unless otherwise agreed in writing. Partial pre-payment may be required for large or long-term projects.

I invoice in pounds Sterling. Payment by bank transfer is preferred although I can accept payment via PayPal if necessary. Full payment details will be provided with every quote or invoice you receive.

If you are based in Europe or the US, you will not pay any value added tax (VAT) on my services.

A native English speaker from London, UK, I hold a first-class honours degree in Multilingual Studies from Royal Holloway, University of London. Additionally, I am a fully qualified member of the esteemed Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL)  and holder of the rigorous and notoriously difficult-to-pass Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Translation – the translation industry gold standard.

As a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, I am bound by a strict code of conduct. I treat all documents with complete confidentiality. Upon request, I can set up a password-protected FTP server for sending and receiving your documents. If you decide to include the supplementary service of third-party proofreading, rest assured that my commitment to confidentiality is unwavering. Every translator I engage with is bound by a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

No. As a professional translator bound by the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Code of Professional Conduct, I translate into my mother tongue (English) only. However, thanks to a network of trusted, professional colleagues, I can point you in the direction of translators working from English into these languages.

Unlike many other European countries, the UK does not have a system of ‘sworn’ or ‘certified’ translators accredited by a particular body. As a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, I can, however, provide a ‘self-certified’ translation of documents required for official purposes, such as birth, death and marriage certificates, legal documents, academic transcripts, etc. See the UK government’s guidelines on certifying a document here. I will certify the accuracy of my completed translation with my signature, membership number and the appropriate clause. The translation will then be attached to the source text and sent to you. Where possible, you should check with the organisation requesting a certified translation exactly what its requirements are.
